“you have to find that place that brings out the human in you. the soul in you. the love in you.” –r.m. drake
I’ve lost count as to how many times we’ve visited Joshua Tree in the last two years, and I know that even still, there are so many adventures yet to be had there. Every time I’m there, I’m just in awe at the vastness of its beauty. I feel like with every trip, I find a new hill of rocks or a new horizon of trees that I hadn’t seen before. But I think what I love most about Joshua Tree is the stillness of the desert.
This particular trip was eerily quiet, especially for a holiday weekend. All you could hear were a car whiz by once in a while, and the sound of our feet crunching on the gravel as we explored this new terrain. After a chaotic and hectic few weeks back at work, I welcomed the moment to just be still, to think of nothing else but the wonder around me.
This day also marked a moment that’s been years in the making: I finally got to meet Maggie! We’ve known each other since I first started blogging (almost 10 years ago!). We’ve been there for each other through bad relationships and hard days. We were pen pals via email, and I remember looking forward to all of her email updates. She was everything I hoped for and more! I cannot wait until she comes back to L.A. in November for more talks about the places we’ll go next and of course, for more awesome photos. Meeting Nicole, from Writes Like a Girl, was an added bonus!
