The irony of buying new clothes while being stuck at home with nowhere to go has not been lost on me. This last Spring season really made me realize that my chapter as an influencer was time to end. I couldn’t have ended with better brands: Sotela, Tradlands, Eileen Fisher, and Only Child. A lot of the new pieces I added in Spring were due to collaborations and partnerships. I’m looking forward to being even more intentional with what I bring (and not bring) into my wardrobe as I leave gifted pieces behind altogether.

– WHAT I LEARNED –
This time at home has really given me time to see what I do want to wear when I don’t have anywhere to go or anyone to impress. I’ve always been drawn to easy and comfortable pieces and so many of pieces work great while working from home, but what I’m really drawn to are: loose, flowy, and thin pieces that I can easily layer. T-shirts under jumpsuits or slip dresses. Light chore jackets. Easy pants with an elastic waist. Light linen sets. These are mostly what’s left in my wardrobe that’s now composed of 55 pieces!
When I set out on this minimalism journey now three years ago, I had made up my mind that 50-something pieces was going to be the just right amount for me. And it actually, really is! I don’t know where I came up with that number, but it’s as if my intuition knew what I needed before I even did. I do think I can whittle it down further (especially my knitwear), but just with everything else, I’m taking it slow. My current Spring/Summer wardrobe consists of 35 pieces with a lot of it being part of my everyday wardrobe (my basics) that doesn’t get changed out seasonally. I was so happy to welcome back some of my linen tanks that I’ve missed dearly.
I’m really looking forward to this next season of my life. I would still like to continue to track what I add and let go in my wardrobe moving forward, especially because I still want to keep myself accountable for this Low Buy Year that I challenged myself to. I’ve already added 10 out of my 12 allowed pieces this year, so we’ll see how this second half of the year goes!
