One season of my low buy challenge down, three more seasons to go! I think Winter has been notoriously the season where I buy the least, even so it has been oddly easier than I thought to refrain from buying clothes these first few months. This Winter especially leaned more towards comfort dressing than dressing for style.

– WHAT I LET GO –
NOTHING!

– WHAT I LEARNED –
2020 has been a rough go from the start, and now with the pandemic, it has taken an even weirder turn. I got really sick in February with the flu and so leggings with oversized tees or sweatshirts was all I really wanted to wear for that month. The two things I did purchase last season–a sweater from Free People and a pair of joggers from Lunya–came from a need to be cozy and comfortable. I’ll admit that the sweater from Free People was an impulse buy that stemmed from a combination of the need to buy something after months of having not and finding ourselves at the mall one weekend out of boredom. Up until March 1st, I hadn’t bought anything for my Everyday Wardrobe since Dec. 08 with my brown Mien Lakeside Jumpsuit being the last thing I bought since starting this low buy challenge. That’s probably been my longest block of time to have gone without shopping since I started this minimalism journey almost three years ago.
I was on the hunt for nicer loungewear since before we’ve had to isolate ourselves. The flu really forced me to realize that I need to take care of myself, and if that means spending 100+ dollars on some really soft and nice joggers, then so be it. I’m so glad I got that pair from Lunya. I have worn little else during this time of social distancing. I’m still on the lookout for some lounge shorts now that it’ll start warming up for Spring and Summer, but for now, I think I’m all set with cozy pieces for this time I’ll be working at home.
Moving forward in Spring, I can already tell that a lot of the extra time spent at home will be spent shopping idly as my screen time has gone way up. I already have some partnerships with brands in the works, which will really test me in my low buy challenge, but I am hopeful that I can find a balance. I’m also going to allow myself some grace that if by the end of the year, I do buy more a little more than 12 pieces, it’s okay. The whole goal of this challenge was to lessen my consumption, and so far I’m doing a great job at it if I do say so myself!
Wishing you all well during this time! I hope to let this little blog of mine become a bit of an outlet while in isolation, so hopefully there’ll be more posts from me!
