Summer has finally arrived here in LA, which for me, makes uniform dressing all the more necessary. I never cared too much for dressing in the Summer. When you like wearing black as much as I do, it’s hard to find a way to stay cool (literally and metaphorically) and to stay true to my style. I’m not very girly in the stereotypical sense. I’ve tried countless sundresses and I’ve tried wearing color and all different kinds of prints, but this Summer, I think I might have finally cracked how I like to dress in the Summer, and I’m surprisingly enjoying myself these last few weeks.

brass clothing the best tank (gifted), hackwith design house linen pants (thrifted via poshmark), nisolo isla slide sandals, rayban hexagonal sunglasses (thrifted via poshmark), mansur gavriel mini bucket bag (thrifted via ebay)
Ever since our last trip to Joshua Tree (which was only a few weeks ago), I have been obsessed with these pants that I thrifted back in April and wearing them with black tanks. I received this tank from Brass Clothing recently and it was the perfect top to wear on this hot desert day. In all of its ribbed goodness, it is seriously so comfortable and light-weight. I love that it’s also reversible so that the scoop could be in the front or the back. As the name suggests, it just might be the best tank in my wardrobe (other than my Sotela Lyla linen tanks of course).
I never thought I’d be one to love wearing white pants so much, but there’s just something magical about this pair. The pockets are huge and flattering. The linen has also been keeping me oh so cool and I can’t wait to continue wearing this outfit. I think it can easily be kept casual like I did or can be dressed up with some fun accessories.
– UNIFORM NO. 2 –
mien fortuna column dress, equal uprise black traditional fedora (gifted), nisolo isla slide sandals, rayban hexagonal sunglasses (thrifted via poshmark)
This dress has been in heavy rotation ever since I bought it back in November. It is definitely one of my closet heroes, and it never fails to make me feel beautiful and confident. Not to mention, it’s comfortable as hell! It’s kind of funny how things change–last Summer, I was all about the shorter dresses and now I’m all about the midis and the maxis. I’m still holding onto a few short dresses just to see if I’ll come back to them this Summer, but it seems like they’ll be on the outs pretty soon. I just love how longer dresses look with minimal slides, and so there’s a good chance that this will be what I look for when I shop for dresses in the future.
Yesterday, Brandon and I made a quick little escape to Joshua Tree for the day. Our anniversary is on June 21st, and we typically make a trip out there to celebrate our anniversary. But seeing as how we just spent a few days there not too long ago, we decided to just make a day of it and aligned it with the new moon. More importantly, I wanted to document us at our five year point with some good ole self portraits via a tripod and a self timer. If this is us now, I look forward to the next five years because I think we look pretty damn good if I do say so myself.
