It’s no secret that black and grey are as far as my comfort zone goes. I even hesitate to stray to wearing white. However, I’ve been obsessed with mustard yellow ever since I tried on a mustard yellow cashmere sweater in a thrift store that was sadly just a little too small a few years ago. But since that fateful afternoon, I have been on a quest to add more mustard into my wardrobe. I do have one mustard yellow sweater that comes out when I’m feeling bold, but I wanted to give this color a try in the warmer months. (I’m also growing a huge crush on rust, so things might be getting a little more colorful around here).
When I saw this top in Zara, I instantly fell in love. I knew this would be what I spent my gift card on. The shade of mustard is just perfect; the peplum is perfect for hiding any food belly; and I know that the linen will be breezy when it warms up. As much as I like this, I knew I had to push myself to wear it, and to wear it now, otherwise it would end up as something I sadly let go of in a few months, so I put it as part of my Spring 10×10. When I decluttered my closet, I realized that I had bought quite a few clothes that I loved in theory, but never actually wore them. I didn’t want this top to be another one of those, so here we are.
To make it even more Spring appropriate, I brought out my straw circle bag and my tan sandals. I have fallen in love with this bag all over again and can’t wait to use it for adventures this Spring and Summer. I can’t wait to see how all of these pieces come to play these warmer months. Here’s to embracing color in a neutral wardrobe!
