Skirting Around

During my closet purge last month, I realized that there were quite a few gaps in my wardrobe. I had zero skirts. Zero! This didn’t surprise me all that much seeing as how I only just realized how awesome dresses were like a few months ago. But the more I reached for my dresses in my Summer Capsule Wardrobe, the more I wondered if skirts would work in my wardrobe. And so my search began. I knew I wanted a skirt that I could try out all year long. This gingham number seemed like the answer (bonus points that it was on sale!). And after looking at a lot of “gingham-skirt-outfit” inspo on Pinterest, I bit the bullet and decided to give this whole skirt thing a try.

Gingham has definitely been the pattern this season, and I’m so glad that it was! Typically I associate gingham with more preppy, J-Crew type of outfits (and also picnic blankets), but since this pattern has been everywhere this year, I’ve seen it in a totally different light. I love that it (almost) has the ease of stripes in that it can be paired easily with solids and can then instantly make your look more interesting.

We’ll see how this skirt works out in the Fall/Winter. I already know that I’m going to want to pair it with all my sweaters and my leather jacket.
