EVERYDAY GLOSSI(ER) SKIN

I’ve gone down quite a few rabbit holes this year–skincare being one of them. I’m ashamed to admit but, up until this year, I’d go weeks (sometimes maybe even a month) without really washing my face more than just water inevitably during my showers. When I did remember to wash my face, I’d just use whatever I picked up at Target, most likely something from Neutrogena, or the infamous St. Ives Apricot Scrub that sat (and still does sit) in my shower. I’ll admit–I’ve been very blessed to have good skin all my life. The worst my skin ever got during my teenage years or during my periods were a few pimples here and there. Because of this, I never really cared for or saw the point in skincare. Until now. I didn’t think my skin could get better, but IT CAN!

I’m not even sure what brought on this need to take care of my skin. Maybe it’s because I’m entering my late 20s. Maybe it’s because I’ve always been fascinated with other people’s skincare.  And maybe it’s because I’ve always been a sucker for good packaging and marketing campaigns. Enter Glossier and Fresh.

At first, I was skeptical and thought that Glossier was all hype. But now that I’ve been obsessively using these products for about four months now, I’m drinking the Glossier kool-aid! These are the products that I’ve been using everyday to make my skin glow. Brandon even uses these products too!

GLOSSIER MILK JELLY CLEANSER

This is the cleanser that truly trumps all other cleansers. The Milky Jelly is so gentle on my skin and it leaves my skin feeling clean but not dry. It even smells like roses when I’m putting it on my face. The consistency of the cleanser is one I haven’t felt from any other. (I’ve also tried and liked Fresh’s Soy Face Cleansing Milk, but I like Glossier’s better)

GLOSSIER SUPER PURE SERUM

I’m not quite sure what serum is. All I know is that it is something you put on after cleansing but before moisturizing. Typically it is packed with vitamins for your skin to drink up before you pack on the moisture. I haven’t tried all of the Glossier Super serums (but I want to). After reading about all of them, I decided to try Super Pure because stress, bad eating habits, and PMS break outs are all a part of my life. Super Pure has Zinc & Niacinamide to help calm your skin. While I’m still not sure if this stuff is actually working, I do know that since adding this to my routine, my skin has been less red and my pores are less noticeable.

GLOSSIER PRIMING MOISTURIZER

Because my skin was never really dry other than the occasional dry patch after a couple cold nights, I never really thought I needed moisturizer. This is also why I prefer moisturizers that are of a thinner consistency. I love Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer because it makes my face dewy but doesn’t clog my pores.

FRESH LOTUS YOUTH PRESERVE FACE CREAM WITH SUIPER 7 COMPLEX

Phew what a name! I’m still not even sure what the ‘super 7 complex’ entails, but what I do know is that I love to laugh. And with laughter over time comes wrinkles, which I want to minimize over time. I knew I wanted to find some sort of an anti-aging cream that was lightweight but still powerful. Fresh’s Lotus Youth Preserve does all that. I can actually feel my skin tighten and tingle after I apply it. I apply this underneath my eyes, where my crow’s feet would be, and around my smile lines.

GLOSSIER BALM DOT COM & LANIEGE LIP SLEEPING MASK

Lip balm is probably the only skincare item that I’ve always cared about. I have countless lip balms scattered around my world: in my workplace, in all my purses, in my car, in Brandon’s car, by the door, in my bathroom, next to my bed, etc. I’ve tried everything from Carmex to Burts Bees to Fresh Sugar Lips, and everything in between. Glossier’s Balm Dot Com has to be my favorite out of all the ones I’ve tried. I currently have two–coconut and rose–and I just know that a few more will be sneaking into my next Glossier order. They’re good for everyday use when I’m out and about, but I was noticing that I would wake up with dry lips (even after applying some sort of balm before I went to sleep).

I then tried out Laniege’s Lip Sleeping Mask to see if this would make a difference. And it does! It stays on all night and even longer throughout the morning while I get ready! A little bit of this stuff goes a long way. Best part is that you can order this on Amazon!

GLOSSIER SKIN TINT

For a person who watches a lot of GRWM videos, I’m the least make-up saavy person that I know. For most days, the only make up I wear will be the sheer tint from Glossier’s Rose Balm Dot Com. I’ve tried a few foundations over the years but hated how cakey and unnatural they made my skin look. All I wanted was something that would allow my skin to shine through but cover up some of my big pores. Glossier’s Skin Tint does just that. Brandon can’t even tell when I am wearing it–it’s just that natural-looking!

Two things that I do want to add into my skincare routine are: SPF/sunscreen and an exfoliant. For now, I just use Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry Touch when I know I’m going to be out in the sun for a long time. As an exfoliant, I’m still using St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub because that’s just what I’ve got in my shower.

If you have any recommendations for either, please let me know! Skincare is my new addiction! Please enable me!
