The Sweet Return

We all know (maybe a little too well) how awkward first dates can be. The opposite can be said about our first date, which lasted a record-breaking thirteen hours. We should’ve known then that we were meant to be. If that wasn’t enough of a clue, the fact that we both showed up wearing heathered grey v-neck t-shirts and dark skinny jeans pretty much sealed our destiny. The Getty Museum will always hold a special place in our hearts–not only because of its gorgeous architecture and stunning views of the city, but also because it’s where our story began. Over the weekend, we tried to recreate the magic on the anniversary of our first date.

Riding the tram to the center together immediately sparked the nostalgia and brought back memories of us excitedly planning out which art pieces (mainly Ansel Adams) we wanted to see. We actually ended up seeing hardly any art pieces that sunny day. Instead, we made our way away from the crowds and found an empty spot on the grass to talk and enjoy the beautiful weather. Our second time to the Getty was no different. We found ourselves up to our old tricks of exploring quiet corners of this beautiful space and ended up in the same grassy spot that started it all. As we sat there, we reveled in each other’s company–grateful that we still feel the same excitement and warm fuzzies as we did on that special day.
